Algebra 1

​Class description
​This Algebra 1 course helps students master core concepts, boost their grades, and get ready for higher-level math. We will cover everything from linear equations and inequalities to quadratic functions and basic data analysis. Instead of just memorizing steps, the focus is on breaking down tough problems into straightforward, manageable pieces so students actually understand the material.

Algebra 2

​Class description
​This course will serve as an introduction to Belmont High School's Algebra 2 H1 class with emphasis on strengthening algebraic reasoning and problem-solving skills. Students will explore major topics such as quadratic functions, polynomial and rational expressions, exponential and logarithmic functions, and introductory trigonometry. A strong foundation in Algebra 1 and Geometry is recommended for students in this course.

Geometry

​Class description
This course will cover the basic skeleton of Belmont High School's Geometry Honors class or the middle school's Challenger Geometry. It will cover from the basics of Geometry to triangles, circles, other polygons, 3D objects, proofs, etc.

Competition Math

​Class description
This course prepares students for the AMC 8, AMC 10, and other middle school and high school math competitions by covering the core topics that appear most frequently in competition math. Students will strengthen their understanding of number theory, algebra, geometry, counting, probability, and other essential contest topics.

Calculus

​Class description
​This introduction to calculus class will provide students with a brief idea of concepts that may be difficult in calculus classes. The class will allow students to have a head start in calculus and will allow them to explore complex math topics that build off of current knowledge. Some basic ideas we will explore will be: limits and continuity, derivatives, integrals, and series. A strong math background is recommended as a prerequisite. ​This is a course exploring fundamental physical laws that govern the universe. We will build up from physics fundamentals into topics from AP Physics 1 & 2 using math and real world principles. Looking forward to teaching you all!

Chemistry

​Class description
​This pre-AP course covers core chemistry principles including atomic structure, molecular geometry, and chemical equilibrium without advanced math. Students will analyze periodic trends, gas behavior, and molecular forces using intuitive models. The curriculum builds the essential conceptual foundation required for future AP chemistry understanding.

​This 8-week biology course aims to introduce students to fundamental concepts of biology. We will explore a variety of topics, including cells, DNA, genetics, evolution, and a bit of human biology. Each lesson will focus on a variety of subtopics in depth. There will be a Kahoot review at the end of each class to reinforce what the students learned.

​Introduction to Python is a beginner-friendly course that teaches the fundamentals of one of the world's most popular programming languages. Starting from the basics, you'll learn how to write code, solve problems, and build your own programs using concepts such as variables, loops, functions, data structures, file handling, and basic object-oriented programming. ​Class description
​In this 8-week course we will focus on building a strong foundation on illustration making through technique, anatomy, and design. This course will include tips that are helpful throughout your art journey, for both beginners and experienced artists. We hope that by talking with both advanced artists and your peers of varying levels you will grow both as a group and as an individual, whether you choose to do cartoon/anime, or realism in the future.

​Class description
​Whether you are brand new to the game or just looking to move beyond the basics, this 8-week course is a great place to start. The main goal is to help students go from simply knowing how the pieces move to actually understanding how to play with a plan. ​Each week, we’ll mix interactive online lessons with supervised playing time, giving everyone a chance to practice what they learn right away. We’ll start from the ground up with the essential rules, then work our way through opening strategies, reliable checkmate patterns, and clever tactics like forks and pins. We'll also spend some time on endgames, so students know exactly how to finish strong and avoid accidental ties. To wrap up the course, we’ll host a casual, friendly mini-tournament where the class can test out their new skills. ​We're excited to help everyone build their confidence on the board and have a lot of fun along the way!

Economics

​Class description
​This 8-week course provides a foundational overview of both microeconomics and macroeconomics. During the first five weeks, students cover microeconomic principles, including scarcity, opportunity cost, the mechanics of supply and demand, price elasticity, and market failures. The final three weeks introduce macroeconomic concepts such as GDP, inflation, the banking system, and international trade. Each 60-minute session is structured to include a lesson on core concepts, a practical application activity (such as analyzing a real-world shortage or interpreting economic charts), and time for review and discussion.​

​Quizbowl is a popular team-based academic competition. Whether you are interested in literature, STEM, history, mythology, music, art, geography, popular culture, or anything else, we are sure there is a subject matter in quizbowl that will interest you. Quizbowl is primarily played competitively at tournaments among players with multiple years of experience, but the goal of this class is to introduce beginners to the game, provide a strong foundation, and encourage further growth. Model UN

​Class description
Greetings, delegates! Model UN is a simulation of real diplomatic bodies—groups of ambassadors, legislators, executives, cabinet members, and more. It’s often hailed as a training ground for students to practice their public speaking, leadership, negotiation, and critical thinking, but it’s so much more: the socializing, within and without committee; the research; the travel; and the community have shaped who we are. In this course, you'll learn the basics of Model UN—caucuses, motions, resolutions, and more—from instructors with years of experience in high school competitions. After introducing Model UN, the course will present a mix of skill-based exercises and parliamentary procedure-specific lessons to prepare you for a mock conference at the end.
