Course Description: Welcome to the Belmont Free Lessons Chess class!
Whether you are brand new to the game or just looking to move beyond the basics, this 8-week course is a great place to start.
The main goal is to help students go from simply knowing how the pieces move to actually understanding how to play with a plan.
Each week, we’ll mix interactive online lessons with supervised playing time, giving everyone a chance to practice what they learn right away.
We’ll start from the ground up with the essential rules, then work our way through opening strategies, reliable checkmate patterns, and clever tactics like forks and pins. We'll also spend some time on endgames, so students know exactly how to finish strong and avoid accidental ties.
To wrap up the course, we’ll host a casual, friendly mini-tournament where the class can test out their new skills.
We're excited to help everyone build their confidence on the board and have a lot of fun along the way!
